Location - Bonito Lava Flow
Camera - Nikon D80, 70mm
First post with the Nikon D80.
Decided to treat myself and upgrade from D70 to D80. Being phased out, there are some nice deals on-line for the D80. So far, I really like the larger LCD and view finder, it makes it much easier as I am getting older, :(
Some what smaller than the D70, it still feels really nice in my hands. Some of the buttons are in different position, but it should be easy to get use to it. I am keeping the D70, as it isn't worth the money I'll get out of selling it. But I will have to sell my Olympus E500 - Ebay bound.

Cotton Wood
Saturday, September 13, 2008
Not a whole lot of trees by Wupatki area except for a few junipers and small shrubs. But these cotton wood trees (a smaller one to the right), which usually grows near rivers/creeks, break the odds of surviving in this arid location.

Well, it's not a new year, but I thought I'd go for a new look, :)
The above photo is from May 2008, Babbit Ranch cattle round up. Shot with Nikon D70 with 80-200mm lens at 200mm focal length.

Austin Bound.
Thursday, September 4, 2008
Austin, one of my favorite cities. I lived there back in 96 - for about 6 months. But I worked out of there for a year (I was commuting). It's cool, vibrant, full of energy, great restaurants, and also very busy. Last time I was here, was when Gore conceded the presidential election. When I lived here, I was mostly in the northern part of Austin, just south of Round Rock. This time, I am staying in the southern part of Austin, near the airport, so I am not familiar with this area at all, thank goodness for GPS.
Waiting game begins - PHX, terminal D. Luckily, no delays.

Ceiling of Chuy's - great timing, it's time for the green chili celebration. Great, thin, crispy chips, and nice spicy salsa (no wimpy stuff here), and a Shiner Bock accomanied my dinner, oh yeah!
