Evening Sky
Tuesday, July 22, 2008
Enjoying the evening walk around the lake, and temperature has dropped to 50s, it is just super nice. The gnats are busy buzzing us, but that's food for the swifts, just part of the food chain.
I really like these houses facing the lake. They also have a very nice view of Mt. Elden. Maybe one day I'll have a water front home.

I wasn't disappointed with the colors from the sunset. I was hoping for some more reflection of the orange from the water. But I didn't get to a better angle/position in time.
Monsoon Season
Sunday, July 20, 2008
Monsoon season this year is right on schedule. The rain has helped to keep the lawn in top shape, and especially nice since we had just laid down new sod in our back yard.
We haven't had a good down pour in a couple of days, but strangely, the run-off that feed out neighborhood pond is going strong. Without tripod and in low light condition, I just propped my camera against the railing of the foot bridge and took this picture. Shot with the Canon SD400, its auto exposure capability continues to amaze me.

Omaha, NE
Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Quick trip to Mid West, this time a short hop (from Phoenix) to Omaha, NE. This is the first time I visited this area, not bad. From the airplane, the area looked very flat, but around town, it is actually very hilly. They just hosted the olympic swim trial, great event, which I enjoyed watching on TV. Going to be some great competitions!
The weather didn't disappoint. Second night here, I am greeted by an ugly looking thunder storm. Made many attempts, but only got 2 nice looking lightning shots. Kind of hard to do with a little point and shoot with major shutter lag, and not much manual setting - maybe camera does matter? :)
From hotel window, from Council Bluffs, IA, looking towards Omaha.
